Rwandan giants Rayon Sports have left Kigali for Cameroon as they begin their campaign in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup.
The Blues departed Kigali on Monday morning ahead of their preliminary-round first-leg encounter with Panthère Sportive du Ndé, scheduled for September 4, 2026 in Cameroon. The match is listed as a CAF Confederation Cup preliminary-round fixture.
Rayon Sports will be aiming to return from Cameroon with a positive result before the two sides meet again in Rwanda on September 12 for the second leg. The return fixture will give the Rwandan side the advantage of playing in front of their home supporters as they fight for a place in the next round.
The meeting is not the first continental encounter between the two clubs. Rayon Sports and Panthère du Ndé previously faced each other in the preliminary round of the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup, with Rayon Sports winning both legs 1-0 to progress.
Panthère Sportive du Ndé, based in Bangangté, Cameroon, are among the teams competing in this season’s Confederation Cup preliminary stage.
For Rayon Sports, the immediate task is to secure a result in Cameroon that puts them in a strong position ahead of the return leg in Rwanda. The club has also confirmed the Cameroon tie on its official X account.
