Sudanese giants Al Hilal SC were officially crowned honorary winners of the 2025/2026 BK Pro League after securing a 2-1 victory against Gasogi United on Matchday 33 of the Rwanda Premier League.
The exciting encounter took place on this Wednesday evening at Kigali Pelé Stadium, where Al Hilal once again demonstrated their dominance throughout the season.
Al Hilal opened the scoring in the 15th minute through Karamadini Mamudu, giving the Sudanese side an early advantage. Gasogi United continued fighting and managed to level the match in the 68th minute thanks to a goal from Ngono Guy Herve. However, the celebrations did not last long as Walieldin Dayiyeen restored Al Hilal’s lead just one minute later, scoring the decisive goal in the 69th minute to seal a crucial victory.
The win lifted Al Hilal SC to 73 points after 31 matches, placing them 14 points ahead of second-placed APR FC. With only three matches left before the end of the season, APR FC can no longer mathematically catch the Sudanese club.
Despite finishing top of the table, Al Hilal SC participated in the Rwandan league as a guest team due to the ongoing security challenges in Sudan. As a result, the club was awarded an honorary championship trophy rather than the official national league title.
The official BK Pro League title will still go to the highest-ranked Rwandan club. This means that APR FC could officially become Rwanda’s league champions if they avoid defeat in their upcoming match against Rutsiro FC. Should APR FC either win or draw that match, they will receive the official BK Pro League trophy together with the league prize worth 80 million Rwandan francs.
Al Hilal SC’s participation in Rwanda’s top flight has attracted significant attention throughout the season, with the Sudanese powerhouse impressing fans through consistent performances and strong displays against some of Rwanda’s biggest clubs.
