“We no longer struggle” – Nyagatoma residents are delighted

Residents of Nyagatoma Cell in Tabagwe Sector, Nyagatare District, are celebrating changes in service delivery. Cell leadership now reaches out to citizens in their villages, documents are issued on time and problems are resolved locally.

Tabagwe, Nyagatare Residents of Nyagatoma Cell in Tabagwe Sector are praising the way their cell leadership has drawn closer to them helping them access fast and quality services.

In interviews with residents, many agreed that they now receive official documents and other services within a short time, unlike before. The leadership is also said to now visit them in their villages through programs like the Parents’ Evening Forum and community assemblies.

Mukarugwiza Clémentine, a resident of Agafaro Village, said: “Before, you would find someone spending three days at the Cell office looking for a child’s birth certificate. But now the Executive Secretary comes to the Parents’ Evening Forum, and we receive services there. We are happy because we feel like citizens who are valued.”

Karekezi Jean Claude from Runyeri Village, also said: “What is even more pleasing is that the leader comes to listen to us. When there is a conflict in the village, the leadership comes and we discuss it, and it gets resolved without us having to go to the Sector office. That makes us feel that we are together with the leadership.”

Ngendahayo Frodourd, also from Runyeri Village, said: “Now we get services nearby and quickly. When I go to request a land document, I find they have already prepared it. There’s no being told to come back tomorrow. That allows me to do my other work that develops my family.”

The Executive Secretary of Nyagatoma Cell, Ndahayo Jean Bosco, said the changes were driven by putting the citizen first.

He said: “Providing quality services is our daily responsibility. We cannot develop while citizens are still struggling with delays.”

He continued, saying: “We have committed to reaching out to citizens where they live, listening to them, and providing services to them there whenever possible. When a citizen is satisfied, the country also benefits, because the time they would have wasted waiting is used for activities that develop them.”

Through the collaboration between residents and leaders, they have resolved to continue working together to build the nation. The Cell leadership urged residents not to waver from their goals of self-reliance and active participation in sustainable development, assuring them that it will continue to stand by them on their journey of self-development.
